India’s population expects to get a boost in its energy needs through power plants insulated with ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation for technical installations The energy consumption in India is expected to double by 2019, with demand rapidly outstripping supply and as many as 400 million Indians are still not connected to the grid. The Indian government estimates an investment of US$250 billion is needed to tackle its energy shortages. To help ramp up its existing capacity, India recently signed an agreement with Russia to construct at least 12 nuclear power plants in the next 20 years. Even so, thermal power plants continue to generate 65% of India’s electricity, with most of them being coal-based; retaining its essential role in India’s energy mix. ROXUL ROCKWOOL TECHNICAL INSULATION India Private Limited is supporting the energy efficiency requirements of India through the supply of technical insulation materials to four power plants located across country.  The Thermal Pow

Kingspan Insulation leads sustainability charge

New Sustainability and Responsibility report published Becoming a true champion of sustainability and responsibility means going beyond grand gestures and continually looking for improvements in every single business process, no matter how big or small. Critically it also means enabling the process of being held to account, by regular, thorough reporting. Kingspan Insulation has blazed a trail with its commitment to this practice for over a decade and it has now gone further than ever before with the publication of its latest Sustainability and Responsibility Report. To ensure the highest levels of transparency, the report has been conducted to Level B+ of the rigorous Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Framework. This enhanced level of reporting requires additional external assurance to support the document's findings. Both the report and external assurance can be viewed in full on Kingspan Insulation’s website:

The site will become the new centre of administration for the Ministry of Defence (MOD), with aims to optimise departmental organisation and improve the framework of military and civilian personnel. A hexagonal building design at the core of the project serves to represent this function, with the minister and his cabinet acting at the centre of a multi-faceted operational structure. ROCKWOOL products have been chosen for the construction of Balard. ‘No more deaths and no more risk’

Brussels, February 25, 2015 — Urgent action is needed now to stop the tragedy of out-dated fire safety regulations that claims the lives of thousands every year. That was the stark message issued today following a high-level meeting between Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), the European Fire Fighters Unions Alliance (EFFUA) and building industry experts, organised by Fire Safe Europe (FSEU). Top of the agenda was a call to tackle deadly, out-dated and inconsistent building fire safety irregularities across Europe and the need for tough new fire testing standards for construction materials. “We assume that we are safe in our homes, offices, schools and hospitals but are we?” said Birgitte Messerschmidt, Fire Safety expert and Chair of Fire Safe Europe’s Technical Task Force. “Europe is a deadly patchwork of inconsistent building fire regulations many of which are dangerously outdated. In Germany the distance to a school fire exit is 10 metres compared to 60 metres in
